NuVault Financial is a group of experienced finance, accounting, and operations consultants whose main goal is to make our clients and their businesses successful. We have decades of expertise in many capacities including CFO Advisory, Transaction Advisory, Valuation Services, Principal Investing, Growth Strategy Development, and General Accounting Functions.
Over the years, NuVault Financial, LLC has established a network of strategic partners, consultants, and investors who have an ongoing interestin developing seed stage to medium sized companies. This network, coupled with our defined processes, increases the probability of success for our clients.

Access to capital and the structure of that capital are the lifeblood of a small business. Over the last 10 years, NuVault Financial's management team has created an extensive network of individuals, family offices, venture capital funds, and private equity funds that are constantly looking to invest with innovative partners. We feel that our success in helping small businesses obtain new capital can be attributed to our ability to consistently stay in front of capital resources. As a result, we are able to quickly qualify the most favorable investor(s) which reduces the time to funding.
We follow a process developed across many years of experience and a wide variety of deals:
Typically our clients retain us after the capital process is complete. In many cases we are engaged as the client's part-time CFO. In other instances we have been asked to sit on a client's advisory board. Regardless, our main goal is to help our clients be successful.
Matt is the President and Managing Member of NuVault Financial. He is also the Associate Director of the Birmingham Angel Network.
Matt's goal for start-up companies is to work with the management team from beginning to exit. He has helped many start-up companies develop high level strategies, provided capital markets advisory, and assisted in development of accounting and finance processes.
When working with small companies (up to $25 million in revenues), Matt has provided valuation services, mergers and acquisitions advisory, and capital markets assistance. Matt has also consulsted on reducing operational and financial inefficiencies in turnarounds and recapitalizations.
Prior to founding NuVault Financial, Matt was involved as a principal investor and an investment banker in a number of capital markets transactions ranging from $500,000 to $10 million in capital raised. These deals included equity and debt capital raises, merger and acquisition transactions, and special asset purchases.
Matt was a portfolio manager of a $4 million hedge fund whose sole focus was to invest in closely held seed stage to micro-cap companies. While running the hedge fund, he was also an analyst and head trader for another hedge fund and holding company with total assets under management topping $100 million.
Matt holds an MBA with a concentration in Finance from the Goizueta Business School at Emory University, and holds a BA in Finance from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He is also a level one candidate in the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) program.
Value Vet provides affordable preventative medicine and general surgical care for pets in the Nashville, TN and Gwinnett County, GA areas. The company provides low cost dental cleanings, spays, neuters, vaccines, heartworm tests, as well as many other surgeries, exams and treatments.
Safe-T-Shelter provides storm shelters and safe rooms for individuals, families, as well as community shelters for larger groups, such as schools, fire departments, and apartment complexes. They have serviced areas throughout the Midwest and Southeast U.S., as far north as Illinois, west to Oklahoma, and south to the Gulf Coast.
Coalmont Electrical Development Corporation is an engineering firm specializing in complex electrical systems, including complete controls, systems integration and product development. In the energy sector, they have particular experience in the mining business, as they understand the complex regulations that govern that work.
The company develops, installs and commissions new systems, as well as, upgrades existing systems. Their projects feature preventive maintenance, control upgrades and communication improvements all for increased production. They design custom software for monitoring processes, including HMI applications and plant control, and can design and manufacture custom electronic equipment to interface old equipment with newer technology.
Since 1983, Jeffco Concrete Contractors has specialized in quality residential and commercial architectural concrete serving clients all over the southeast and beyond.
South Cypress began in 1952 as a fully functional flooring retailer. Through the evolution of the internet, the company has been able to provide flooring products on a more extensive scale where they offer affordable and quality products and services through their website www.southcypress.com.
Freshfully.com is an online marketplace for local food, currently serving the Birmingham, AL area. The company provides users a source for local and organic food in Alabama, allows shoppers access to its online grocery store, and provides articles and guides to local food in its service area.
Josh is the Director of the Birmingham Angel Network. He is also an attorney with Dominick Feld Hyde, P.C., a small business focused law firm based in Birmingham, Alabama.
Josh was recently named into the Birmingham Top 40 under 40. Additionally, he was awarded the Small Business Advocate of the Year Award by the Birmingham Business Alliance.
Josh holds a masters in accounting and a juris doctorate from the University of Georgia.
Michael is a CPA with 10 plus years of experience in Corporate Finance, Capital Markets, and Accounting. He has experience in industries ranging from Financial Services, Construction, and Manufacturing. His expertise includes GAAP, financial analysis, financial reporting, valuation, forecasting, budgeting, cost and cash management.
Michael received his MBA from the University of Alabama. He holds a B.S. in Finance from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Michael is currently a board member at Cullman Christian School in Cullman, Alabama.
Scott is currently employed at CenterState Bank in the Correspondent Division as Vice President, where he serves as a fixed income and asset/liability analyst and strategist, and manages the interest rate derivatives trading desk for the bank. Over the past 11 years, he has worked in the capital markets with financial institutions and investment companies in various capacities, and has served as Executive Vice President at a portfolio management software company. Most recently, Scott worked as an investment banker at Silverton Capital Corporation in Atlanta, GA, where he provided merger and acquisition advisory services, capital raising strategies and valuation analysis.
Scott currently serves in an advisory capacity at NuVault regarding small business management consulting, financial valuation, and foreign exchange technical and fundamental analysis. He also serves as a member of the Birmingham Angel Network.
